Matt is a Partner in the Arnett Carbis Toothman LLP's Columbus, OH office and has over 26 years of tax, accounting, and consulting experience.

Matt’s background includes significant and broad experience in all aspects of the tax life cycle (from planning and implementation to financial statement and tax reporting & compliance to successful Federal, State & local examination defense) for both large commercial entities and family-owned businesses.  He has extensive experience in ASC 740 matters for both public and private enterprises.  His experience also includes merger and acquisition due diligence, planning and structuring (buy-side and sell-side), complex business and tax transactions, and review, planning and implementation of new and proposed legislation.

Matt has a proven track record of forming, growing and maintaining successful relationships by consistently developing solutions that ensure clients’ compliance and protection, and ultimately result in added value to their businesses and a more profitable financial position for their organizations. Strengths include strategic thinking/planning, problem solving and relationship building. He possesses expertise in all areas of corporate tax, including tax planning, tax accounting, tax compliance, tax controversy and audit defense and is known as a trusted advisor who is passionate about working with companies and teams to develop the best tax and financial solutions for the betterment of their organizations.

Matt graduated with honors from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant in Ohio and Pennsylvania and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the AICPA Tax Division, the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Matt’s past civic, charitable and social activities include FORE Hope (Treasurer), Boy Scouts of America, Leadership Columbus, and Tartan Fields Golf Club.
