James Hunt New CEO of Arnett Carbis Toothman

On January 1, 2020, K. James Hunt, CPA, CGMA was named Chief Executive Officer of Arnett Carbis Toothman LLP (ACT), the 103rd largest accounting and consulting firm in the country. He succeeds Steven S. Robey, CPA, CGMA, who served as ACT’s Chief Executive Officer over the last 10 years. Hunt and Robey have worked together, hand-in-hand over the last several years to make ACT what it is today.

This transition is part of the Firm’s intended succession plan, which has been in the works the last three years. Robey’s plan is aimed at providing a springboard for future leaders, and allowing the Firm to continue growing and serving clients well into the future. Robey remains full-time at the Firm serving clients, but has transitioned out of leadership roles as part of his long-term succession plan. Robey has been in public accounting, specializing in taxation for over 42 incredible years.

“Transitioning out of the CEO role is bittersweet,” said Robey. “I love what I do, and loved what I did as Chief Executive Officer, but I recognize when it’s time to pass the torch to the next generation of leaders. With the dedication and leadership that James has exhibited in all of the years I’ve known him, under his direction, ACT has a bright and exciting future ahead,” continued Robey.

Hunt, who has been in public accounting for nearly 30 years, specializing in health care, will oversee day-to-day operations, and be responsible for guiding the Firm’s overall strategy, growth, innovation, and culture across its accounting, advisory, and non-traditional service areas. Hunt is also the Firm’s Chairman of the Executive Committee, and continues to serve as the Firm’s Health Care Services Coordinator.

“Steve led ACT for 10 years with consistent passion, dedication, and thoughtfulness. The positive impact he had on ACT is undeniable. I now look ahead, and am excited to embrace all of the changes occurring in our industry, and lead ACT into the future,” Hunt says of his growing role with ACT.
