Jeff Petrell is a Partner serving with Arnett Carbis Toothman LLP’s Health Care Services Team and is Co-Coordinator of the Firm’s Tax Services. Jeff has over twenty-four years of public accounting experience. He has significant experience providing tax planning, compliance, and advisory services to a variety of organizations including taxable and tax-exempt organizations, multi-state businesses, and flow-through entities. Jeff has experience with multi-entity health systems, hospitals, long-term care organizations, and dental and physician practices. Jeff also serves as a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee, which governs policy and procedure for the Firm. In addition to his roles for Arnett Carbis Toothman LLP, Jeff serves as President of Walker Benefits, LLC, retirement plan consultants.
Jeff’s experience covers a broad range of issues and transactions including: tax controversy services involving the Internal Revenue Service and state and local taxing authorities, mergers and acquisitions, obtaining federal and state tax exemptions, structuring joint ventures between tax-exempt and for-profit organizations, conversions from taxable to tax-exempt organizations, and federal and state private letter rulings. Jeff is a frequent speaker in the field of tax and tax-exempt organizations and has authored articles published in the Pennsylvania CPA Journal and other publications.
Jeff is both a Certified Public Accountant and an attorney licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He is also a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). Jeff received his BSBA degree in Accounting from Robert Morris University and his Juris Doctorate degree from Duquesne University School of Law.
He is a member of the American, Pennsylvania, and Allegheny County Bar Associations, the Tax Section of the Allegheny County Bar Association, the American and Pennsylvania Institutes of Certified Public Accountants, and the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA). Jeff is currently a member of the Board of Directors and President-elect of the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of HFMA.
